On September 18, as part of the Mirtha Colón Permanent Seminar organized by Alianza Americas, the webinar “GARINAGU: The Epic Story of a People Who Defied Disappearance,” will take place. Moderated by Mirtha Colón, president of Organización Negra Centroamericana (ONECA), and with the participation of Garifuna researcher Andoni Castillo, this event will explore the history, culture, and resistance of the Garifuna people in the face of adversity.

Throughout this conversation, we will explore the origins of the Garifuna people and their rich culture. From their resistance in the face of forced displacement to the preservation of their identity through language, music, and spirituality, this webinar will offer an in-depth look at the resilience and strength of the Garifuna people.
