Chicago, IL — Oscar Chacón, co‐founder of Alianza Americas, has been recognized by the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence at Case Western Reserve University with the 2025 Inamori Ethics Prize. The Inamori Ethics Prize has been awarded since 2008 to honor outstanding international ethical leaders whose actions and influence have greatly improved the condition of humankind. Alianza Americas is proud to celebrate this incredible honor of one of our co-founders that demonstrates the importance of the work we do as a network.

“Oscar Chacón’s advocacy is led, simply, by compassion and humanity. He gives voice
to individuals who are silenced and raises awareness for today’s leading global
challenges,” said Case Western Reserve President Eric W. Kaler in a statement released yesterday. “Mr. Chacón has shown us what can be accomplished with justice and equity as our guides,” he added.

In 2004, Chacón and other migrant leaders across the U.S. co‐founded Alianza Americas, a network of organizations led by and serving migrants of Latin American and Caribbean origin in the United States that advocates for solutions addressing systemic inequities, immigrant justice, and climate justice in the United States and Latin America. Chacón served as Alianza Americas' first executive director from January 2007 until August 2024.

Oscar’s dedication to migrant rights globally has left an incredible legacy that continues through the leadership development efforts of Alianza Americas. “Oscar’s unwavering commitment to justice and equity has set a powerful example for all of us. His leadership reminds us that community-led advocacy can create powerful transformation for our society,” said Dulce Guzmán, Executive Director of Alianza Americas.
