Chicago, IL– On the eve of of election day, Alianza Americas reaffirms its commitment to strengthening our democracy by encouraging every eligible voter to exercise their fundamental right to vote. In this critical moment, it is essential that individuals in our communities not only participate but do so as informed and empowered voters. With approximately 36 million people of Latin American origin eligible to vote in the U.S. general election, our community has an unprecedented opportunity to shape the policies that impact our families, neighborhoods, and futures.
"Our democracy is only as strong as the voices that contribute to it," said Dulce Guzmán, Executive Director of Alianza Americas. “We urge all eligible voters, particularly those within immigrant communities, to engage fully in this process. Voting is not only a right but a powerful way to contribute to meaningful change," concluded Guzmán.
“Voters of Latin American origin are positioned to have a major impact on the future of our country. We must proudly show our presence and power through the democratic process,” said Carolina Ortiz, Associate Executive Director of COPAL MN, and Board Member of Alianza Americas. “Immigrants are vital to our communities, and we have a critical role in ensuring our voices and stories are heard,” concluded Ortiz.
This democratic process is very relevant domestically and internationally. The United States is a crucial actor globally, and its influence can be a positive or an opposing transformational force for Latin America and the Caribbean. As transnational actors, we are observing these elections.
We call on all eligible individuals to prepare to make their voices heard. Our future is on the ballot box. Join us in protecting and uplifting our communities by voting and encouraging others to do the same. Together, we can build a future that represents all of us.
