Michoacan resident in Chicago IL, with more than 25 years of having been part of the leadership in different organizations both in Mexico and the United States. He actively participated in the campaign to obtain the right to vote for Mexicans from abroad, graduated from the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo with a master's degree in Urban Education from Columbia College. President of the Federation of Michoacan Clubs in Illinois (FEDECMI) 2001-2006, teacher at the San Procopio school, in the Mexican neighborhood of Pilsen in Chicago, councilor elected with the highest number of votes to the Advisory Council of the Institute of Mexicans in the Exterior (CC-IME 2003-2005). Co-founder and executive director of Casa Michoacán and the Executive Committees of the Confederation of Mexican Federations (CONFEMEX) and the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Organizations (NALACC), now Alianza Américas. Member of the international organizing committee of the 1st Hemispheric Summit of Migrant Communities of Latin America held in May 2007 in Morelia Mich. From April 2006 to August 2009 Director of the Office of New Americans Policy and Advocacy in the state of Illinois. President of the Mexican Network of Migrant Leaders and Organizations (Red MX) from 2011 to 2015. Associate director for transnational affairs of the Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities (NALACC now Alianza Americas) from 2009 to 2015. Member of the International Committee of the Global Forum Migration World Cup from 2010 to 2015. Head of the Migrant Secretariat of the State of Michoacán from 2015 to 2021. Spokesperson and member of the Board of Directors of the Collective for Transnational Development of Michoacán. Director of Casa Michoacán Dupage, from October 2021 to date.
